Therapy for Stress Management

Practical, evidence-based online therapy for chronic stress. Learn what sustained stress does to the body and how counselling helps you reset.

Short bursts of stress are useful. Stress that never switches off is a health problem — and it is one of the most fixable things therapy addresses.

Signs you might recognise

You do not need to identify with all of these. Even a few is reason enough to talk to someone.

Jaw clenching, headaches or persistent shoulder and neck tension
Snapping at people over things that don't warrant it
Working longer hours while getting less done
Relying on food, screens, alcohol or scrolling to wind down
Frequent minor illnesses and slow recovery
Feeling permanently behind, even on a light day
Difficulty enjoying time off without guilt
Digestive issues with no clear medical cause

Why this happens

Under threat, your body diverts resources to immediate survival and postpones everything else — digestion, repair, immune function, clear thinking. That trade-off is brilliant for a short emergency and corrosive over months. Chronic stress is rarely caused by one thing; it is usually the accumulation of a demanding role, unclear boundaries, financial pressure and no genuine recovery time, with each part making the others harder to solve.

How therapy helps

What the work actually involves, session by session.

1

Auditing the actual load

We separate what is genuinely urgent from what feels urgent. Most people are carrying several loads they never consciously agreed to take on.

2

Building real recovery

Recovery is not the absence of work; it is active downshifting. We identify what actually restores you rather than what merely distracts you.

3

Boundary work

A large share of chronic stress is a boundary problem wearing a time-management costume. We practise the specific conversations you are avoiding.

4

Nervous system regulation

Paced breathing, progressive relaxation and structured wind-down routines lower baseline arousal so you stop living at a nine out of ten.

Frequently asked questions

Is stress really something to see a therapist about?
Yes. Waiting until stress becomes anxiety, depression or a physical health problem makes it considerably harder to treat. Stress is one of the highest-return reasons to start therapy early.
Can therapy help if my job is genuinely the problem?
Therapy will not pretend your circumstances are fine. It helps you see the situation clearly, decide what is changeable, change what is, and build the confidence to act on what isn't — including, sometimes, leaving.
How quickly will I feel a difference?
Many people feel some relief after the first session simply from laying everything out. Meaningful, durable change in stress levels usually takes six to ten sessions of consistent work.
Do you offer this for teams or workplaces?
Yes — Insights Wellbeing runs psychoeducation workshops for organisations alongside individual therapy. Get in touch to discuss format and group size.
